Eighty electrified flights per day by June?

Feb 2, 2025, Kyle Hodgson

It looks like the number of electrified aviation flights per day are doubling every 3-4 months right now.

The majority of the traffic is Pipistrel trainers; Velis Electros and Alpha Electros. This is no surprise - these trainers are great to fly, and reduce the cost of training significantly.

So, it looks like by years end we'll be over 200 flights per day.

If we assume they're all training hours, that's 17 tons of CO2e saved, every day. If it holds at that level that's 6 megatons annually.

If the training market becomes absolutely saturated with electric aviation and no other mission types take hold, then once all training flights are electric this number stops growing.

However, I'd bet we see more mission types within 2025. Medical flights, light high priority cargo and so on.
